Photoshop

An introductory course for beginners to give you the basics of using the tools and techniques necessary
to crop, copy, retouch and collage photos and develop graphic images through a set of logical, prepared
projects.

Kate Legg About the Tutor
Kate is an experienced graphic designer and software trainer. She graduated from Brighton University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and spent successful years in the advertising and design industry. She then became involved in training graphics including the Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office, becoming a Microsoft Master Instructor. She currently runs her own IT Training business and also teaches Graphic Design at local Universities.

Website Design

A condensed practical course to take you through the steps and techniques for constructing a creative website using Dreamweaver CS3. Topics will include site planning, basic HTML, design issues, CSS, image optimizing, site management and web hosting.

Martin is Digital Media Manager at South Hill Park, freelance artist and multimedia designer. He began designing for the web with hand built HTML sites in 1996 and now works as a producer and multimedia author. He graduated from London College of Music & Media with an MA in Computer Arts in 2003.

Digital Photography

Designed for beginners who want to develop their skills with a digital camera beyond 'point and shoot' photography. The course will give you hands-on experience of composition, lighting, using manual settings and the changes and image enhancements you can achieve using Adobe Photoshop.

Jo became a freelance photographer 10 years ago after a 12 year career in business in the UK and abroad. As a creative photographer, form and structure are very important in her work with angle, light and perspective being used as the key to achieving impact. She also enjoys experimenting with print materials and pushing the boundaries of photography. In 2001 Jo obtained Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society.

Computer Music

Introduction to the essential MIDI and audio sequencing capabilities of Cubase SX, covering arranging, looping and audio editing, software instruments, mix automation, with special focus on multi-track recording and production techniques.

Damon has been a professional sound engineer for over 10 years, recording all styles of music from Latin Jazz to Hard Rock. He is Producer for several albums on Parkside Records, Park Studios' inhouse label. As an active drummer he is frequently heard on the Blues circuit backing visiting US artists, such as Dietra Farr, Dave Spector, Jimmy Dawkins and Mojo Buford.

Photo Restoration

Learn to repair damaged or faded old photographs using Adobe Photoshop. Using enhancement and repair tools including; Variations, Brightness, Contrast, Hue & Saturation, Clone, Dodge, Smudge. Participants should bring a photograph and have basic experience of using Photoshop. Price includes print out of the final restored image.

Heather is a professional artist and educator. Her strong background as a printmaker has extended her indepth grasp of digital imaging techniques and photography. She gained an MA in Printmaking from the Camberwell School of Art and is currently based at Open Hand Open Space studios in Reading.

Sand Animation & Soundtracks

One day exploring the creation of stop frame animation using an fine sand and coloured beads, followed by a day of esoteric digital audio techniques to develop original sound effects and music for animation.

Moving to London, she graduated with an MA in the “Animation Director Course” at the National Film and Television School. Landscape Photography

recording, elemental installation design and creation using scale drawings and models.

Max Eastley is an innovative figure in the field of sound art, exhibiting at the Sonic Boom show at the Hayward Gallery in 2000. He has exhibited his sound installations internationally, and worked closely with a wide range of interdisciplinary artists, musicians and filmmakers, including Brian Eno, Peter Greenaway, Evan Parker, Thomas Köner, Eddie Prévost and The Spaceheads.

Circuit Bending
Date: Saturday & Sunday 22nd / 23rd Nov

Next level circuit-bender, Professor Asmo leads this workshop in building custom modified instruments from
the circuits of electronic toys. Day 1 will involve the creation of a unique Dub Siren from a Vtech Tiny Touch phone, followed by exploration of sequencer control via an analogue modular synthesizer on Day 2. All components supplied.

Professor ASMO

About the Tutor
ASMO (Anti Social Musik Order) is the ‘circuit bending’ project of artist and musician Stu Smith. He works with self made instruments custom built from the modified circuits of electronic toys, keyboards and other discarded gadgets. His work explores the sonic landscape of ‘circuit bent’ instruments and their integration into existing modular synthesizer systems. He writes and performs with the groups Threep and The Buoys and has performed at concerts and festivals across the UK, Europe and USA.

Experimental Digital Printmaking

Experiment with printing on to different papers, collage materials, fabric, and/or applying digital transfers to
other surfaces using Ink Aid. The emphasis will be on exploring and experimenting with digital images using
the Epson 7600 large format printer. Participants should have a working knowledge of Photoshop.
